Sujata Saunik, an IAS officer from the 1987 Maharashtra cadre, was born on 15 June 1965. She holds a graduate degree in Political Science and postgraduate qualifications in History from GND University, Punjab. Throughout her career in the Government of Maharashtra, she served in various capacities including Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Municipal Commissioner, District Collector, and Managing Director. She was awarded the Custodians of Humanity Award and the SKOCH Order of Merit among others. Sujata Saunik retired as Chief Secretary at Mumbai, a position she assumed on 30 June 2024. She is proficient in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Punjabi.
