Rakesh Ranjan, born on 20 August 1966, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1992 Manipur cadre. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and an M.A. in Public Policy from TERI University, Delhi. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Resident Commissioner, Joint Secretary, Commissioner, District Collector and District Magistrate, among others. His most recent position was Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi, from 29 May 2024 to 31 October 2024. He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Manipuri.
