Currently, he serves as Secretary to Government (Fiscal Reforms) in the Finance Department, Bengaluru, since 17 August 2023. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Secretary, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Director, Additional Commissioner, Project Administrator, Mission Director, Deputy Secretary, Officer on Special Duty to Minister, and Assistant Commissioner. Dr. Vishal R continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
