Vandana Gurnani, an IAS officer of the 1991 Karnataka cadre, was born on 15 July 1966. She holds a postgraduate degree and a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. Currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment since 18 April 2025, she has held various key positions including Secretary (Coordination), Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Resident Commissioner Director, and Additional Chief Secretary. Her extensive administrative experience spans roles such as Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Director. Vandana is proficient in English and Hindi and continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
