V P Patel, a 1999 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, was born on March 8, 1959. A graduate by education, he served in various capacities including District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, Director, Secretary to Government, and Commissioner. He held the position of Commissioner at Gujarat's Transport Department from September 17, 2018, until his retirement. His awards include the Best Collector Award in 2005 for Navsari and the 2nd prize in experience sharing presentation at LBSNAA Mussoorie during the 104th Induction Training in 2008.
