Upendra Tripathy, born on October 5, 1956, is a retired IAS officer from the 1980 Karnataka cadre. He served as Secretary in the Department of New and Renewable Energy from April 2014 to October 2016. His educational background includes postgraduate degrees in Public Administration and Political Science, along with a graduate degree in Political Science. Throughout his career, he held various positions such as Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Principal Secretary, Managing Director, Chairman, Commissioner, Director, Deputy Secretary, Chief Secretary, Deputy Commissioner, Special Deputy Commissioner, and Assistant Commissioner. He received several awards, including the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration and the Citizen Extraordinary Award in 2008.
