Umesh Sinha, born on January 1, 1960, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1986 Uttar Pradesh cadre. He holds an M.Phil. and P.G. degree in Sociology and a graduate degree in Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Deputy Election Commissioner, Special Secretary, Chief Electoral Officer, Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Secretary, State Project Director, Managing Director, Special Commissioner, Additional Director, District Collector and Magistrate, Joint Secretary, Chief Development Officer, Under Secretary, and Assistant Collector. His most recent position was Deputy Election Commissioner at the Election Commission of India, New Delhi, from July 24, 2019, to June 30, 2022.
