Tarun Kapoor, born on 23 November 1961, is a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He holds a B.E. in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. in Business Administration. Currently, he serves as an Advisor at the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, since 2 May 2022. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Secretary, Vice Chairman, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to Government, Joint Secretary, Managing Director, Director, Special Secretary, Deputy Commissioner, Resident Commissioner, Sub Divisional Officer, and Assistant Commissioner. He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
