Dr. T. V Somanathan, born on 10 May 1965, is a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. Currently serving as Cabinet Secretary at the Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi since 30 August 2024, he holds qualifications including Certificate CIMA Finance, M.A. Economics, and C.A. FCCA Accountancy. His extensive career includes roles such as Finance Secretary, Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Managing Director. He has received several awards, including a Special Commendation for budgeting reform, Harvard Executive Development Programs award, and multiple international prizes for excellence in finance and management. He is proficient in English, French, Hausa, Hindi, and Tamil.
