Smaraki Mahapatra, born on January 23, 1976, is a 2002 batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre. She holds a B.A. and a Postgraduate Diploma. Currently, she serves as Secretary in the Correctional Administration Department, West Bengal, a position she has held since January 22, 2026. Throughout her career, she has held multiple key roles including Chairman and Managing Director, Secretary, Director, Commissioner, Commercial Tax Commissioner, Excise Commissioner, District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Magistrate. She is proficient in English, Hindi, and Oriya. She continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
