S R Umashankar, born on April 5, 1965, is a 1993 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre. He holds an M.A. degree and is currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary at Bengaluru in the Home Department since November 30, 2023. Throughout his career, he has held various key positions including Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to Government, Managing Director, Excise Commissioner, Secretary, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, General Manager, Chief Executive Officer, and Assistant Commissioner. He is proficient in English and Kannada and continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
