S R Rao, born on January 9, 1954, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1978 Gujarat cadre. He holds a graduate degree in Physics and postgraduate qualifications in Rural Development and Social Work. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Secretary, Deputy Chief Executive, Joint Managing Director, Chairman, Additional Director General, Principal Secretary, Additional Secretary, and Special Secretary. His most recent position was Secretary at Gujarat’s Commerce and Industry Department from May 29, 2012, to January 31, 2014.
