S P Karkara, born on 12 February 1936, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1982 Punjab cadre. He holds postgraduate qualifications in History, and graduate degrees in English and Law. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Junior Scale, Sub-Divisional Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Secretary, Additional Director, Commissioner, Secretary, and Deputy Commissioner. His most recent position was Director in the Local Self Government Department from 1 May 1992 to 1 February 1994. Mr. Karkara’s extensive administrative experience spans multiple key roles within the Punjab cadre.
