S M Vijayanand, born on 15 March 1957, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1981 Kerala cadre. He holds postgraduate degrees in English and Applied Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Director, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour Commissioner, District Collector and Magistrate, Project Officer, District Planning Officer, and Assistant Collector. His most recent position was Secretary in the Panchayati Raj department from 26 February 2015 to 25 April 2016. His extensive administrative experience spans multiple roles across state governance.
