Throughout his career, Verma served in various capacities including Assistant Collector, District Development Officer, Superintendent, Deputy General Manager, District Collector, Deputy Secretary, Chairman, Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary. His most recent role was Additional Chief Secretary at Gujarat from April 1993 to September 1995. He was associated with the Department of Health and Family Welfare during his service. Verma's extensive administrative experience spans multiple key positions within the Gujarat government.
