S Gopalakrishnan, born on 10 March 1969, is a 1991 batch IAS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.B.A. in Public Policy Management from the Indian Institutes of Management, an M.A. in Development Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam, and a B.Tech. from IIT Madras. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in New Delhi since 1 November 2024. His past roles include Director General, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Principal Secretary, Commissioner, Managing Director, and District Collector. He has received awards for Population and Best Collector. He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Tamil.
