Ramesh Chander Nayyar, born on December 4, 1953, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1982 Punjab cadre. He holds postgraduate degrees in Rural Development and Statistics, along with a graduate degree in Arts. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Deputy Commissioner, Director, Secretary, Special Secretary, Managing Director, Joint Secretary, Executive Director, Additional Principal Secretary, and Member of the Finance Commission. His most recent role was Principal Secretary of the Labour Department from November 21, 2010, to December 31, 2013.
