Rakesh Shankar, born on 24 November 1975, is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2004 Gujarat cadre. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.S. in Information Technology. Currently, he serves as Commissioner and Secretary in the Women and Child Development Department at Gandhinagar since 1 August 2024. His previous roles include Secretary, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, District Collector, District Development Officer, Additional District Magistrate & Collector, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister, Joint Secretary & Director, Managing Director, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and Assistant Collector.
