Rakesh Garg, born on 24 November 1956, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1980 Uttar Pradesh cadre. He holds an M.Tech. in Production Engineering, a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, and an M.B.A. in Business Administration. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Additional Resident Commissioner, Joint Secretary, Executive Director, Chairman and Managing Director, Commissioner, Director, Inspector General, Special Secretary, District Collector and Magistrate, Project Director, Additional District Magistrate, and Executive Magistrate. His most recent position was Secretary in the Department of Minority Affairs from 29 January 2016 to 30 November 2016.
