Rajiv Kumar, born on 19 February 1960, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1984 Jharkhand cadre. He holds a B.Sc. in Zoology, an LL.B. in Law, and a PG Diploma in Management from IGNOU. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Under Secretary, Deputy Development Commissioner, Additional District Magistrate, Director, Managing Director, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary, Secretary, Special Secretary, Estt Officer & Additional Secretary, Resident Commissioner, and Additional Resident Commissioner. He was appointed Election Commissioner before serving as Chief Election Commissioner of India from 15 May 2022 to 18 February 2025.
