Rajit Punhani, born on July 1, 1967, is a 1991 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University and an MBA in Finance from IIM Bangalore. Currently, he serves as the CEO of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), New Delhi, since August 22, 2025. His extensive career includes roles such as Secretary, Special Secretary & Financial Advisor, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Chief Vigilance Officer, Joint Secretary, Managing Director, Commercial Tax Commissioner & Secretary, Director, Deputy Secretary, District Collector and District Magistrate, and Deputy Development Commissioner. He is proficient in English and Hindi.
