R Venkatesh Kumar, born on 31 July 1980, is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2010 Karnataka cadre. He holds a B.E. degree from Periyar University, Salem. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities including Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer, Controller of Examinations, Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Collector and Magistrate, and Additional Chief Electoral Officer (Expenditure). Currently, he is the Commissioner in the Excise Department of Karnataka, a position he has held since 8 January 2025. He is proficient in English and Tamil and continues to serve in the IAS.
