R Venkatesan, born on April 16, 1959, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1996 Tamil Nadu cadre. A graduate by education, he served in various capacities including Commissioner Director, Member Secretary, State Project Director, Director, Joint Commissioner, District Collector, Commissioner, and Additional Collector. His most recent position was Secretary of the Information Technology Department from August 18, 2017, to April 30, 2019. Throughout his career, he contributed to multiple administrative roles within the Tamil Nadu government before retiring from service.
