R Venkata Ratnam, born on November 5, 1960, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1990 Punjab cadre. He holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in Agriculture and an LL.B. from Panjab University. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Principal Secretary and Finance Commissioner, Secretary to Government, Commissioner, Special Secretary, Director, Deputy Commissioner, Joint Development Commissioner, Managing Director, Labour Commissioner, OSD to Chief Minister, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate. His most recent position was Principal Secretary / Finance Commissioner from August 9 to August 13, 2019.
