R Rathinasamy, born on 12 May 1944, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1981 Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.B.A. in Business Administration, a graduate degree in Economics, and an LL.B. in Law. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector, District Revenue Officer, Joint Commissioner, Deputy Secretary, and Director. His most recent position was Secretary of the Energy Department from 1 May 2001 to 31 May 2004. Rathinasamy also held roles such as Chairman and Managing Director, Special Officer, Chief Administration Officer, and Regional Manager during his tenure in the IAS.
