R Pathak, born on July 2, 1938, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1983 batch, Bihar cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree and a graduate degree in English. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Under Secretary, Additional Director, Chief, Managing Director, and Secretary. His most recent position was Secretary in the Finance Department, a role he held from August 1, 1992, to July 31, 1996.
