R P Birnaway, born on 21 December 1934, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1983 Bihar cadre. He holds graduate degrees in Physics and Law. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Junior Scale, Sub-Divisional Officer, Charge Officer, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Managing Director, District Collector and Magistrate, and Secretary. His most recent position was Secretary in the Energy Department from 1 June 1992 to 1 December 1992.
