R Nanthagopal, born on 29 April 1965, is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2005 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. Currently serving as Commissioner at Chennai since 7 September 2023, he is associated with the Tamil Nadu Archives and Historical Research department. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Commissioner, Commissioner Director, Director, Joint Commissioner, and District Collector. He continues to serve in the IAS, contributing to the administration of Tamil Nadu.
