R N Samaddar, born on 12 October 1937, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1982 batch of the West Bengal cadre. He held various positions throughout his career, including Junior Scale, Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Additional District Magistrate, and Joint Secretary. His most recent role was Joint Secretary in the Home Department from 1 July 1991 to 31 October 1995. Mr. Samaddar holds postgraduate and graduate degrees in Statistics, as well as a graduate degree in Law.
