Currently serving as Secretary in the Special Initiatives Department since February 24, 2026, she has held various positions including Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Special Secretary, Member Secretary, Director, Special Officer & Managing Director, District Collector, Deputy Secretary, Under Secretary, and Additional Collector. Fluent in English, Kannada, and Tamil, R Jaya continues to contribute to the administrative framework of Tamil Nadu. She is currently in service.
