R Baskaran, born on 20 October 1947, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1984 Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and a graduate degree in Law. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector, Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Director, Commissioner, Managing Director, Chief Personnel Officer, and District Revenue Officer. His most recent position was Special Secretary in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles Department from 15 January 2006 to 31 October 2007. Mr. Baskaran's extensive administrative experience spans multiple leadership roles within the Tamil Nadu government.
