Pravir Kumar, born on 16 July 1959, is a retired IAS officer of the 1982 Uttar Pradesh cadre. He holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Swansea University and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering. Over his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Director General, Joint Secretary, Development Commissioner, Excise Commissioner, Managing Director, Divisional Commissioner, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Special Secretary, District Collector and Magistrate, Chief Development Officer, Sub Divisional Magistrate, and District Magistrate. His most recent position was Secretary from 1 October 2015 to 31 July 2019.
