Praveen Kumar, born on 23 June 1961, is a retired IAS officer from the 1987 Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.Tech. in Metallurgy from IIT, an M.Phil. in Safety Engineering from Punjab University, and a Master Diploma in Public Administration. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector, Chief Electoral Officer, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary, Special Secretary, and Secretary. His most recent role was Secretary in the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, New Delhi, from 31 December 2019 to 30 June 2021.
