P Shankar, born on 15 July 1969, is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2006 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities including Special Secretary to Government, Chief Executive Officer, Director, and District Collector. Currently, he is the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Tamil Nadu, a position he has held since 23 June 2025. Mr. Shankar continues to serve in the IAS, contributing to the administration of Tamil Nadu.
