P S Kathiresan, born on 17 February 1952, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1980 West Bengal cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree in Chemistry. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Magistrate, Commissioner, Managing Director, Principal Secretary, Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary. His most recent position was Director General in the Department of Food and Public Distribution from 1 March 2012 to 28 February 2013. Kathiresan's extensive administrative experience spans multiple leadership roles across state and central government departments.
