Nilam Sawhney, born on June 2, 1960, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1984 Andhra Pradesh cadre. She holds graduate and postgraduate degrees in Physics. Throughout her career in the Government of Andhra Pradesh, she served in various capacities including District Collector and Magistrate, Commissioner, Secretary, Principal Secretary, and Vice Chairman & Managing Director. Her most recent position was Chief Secretary to the Government from November 14, 2019, to June 30, 2020. Her extensive administrative experience spans roles such as Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Administrator, Project Director, and Assistant Collector.
