N P Mahapatra, born on August 1, 1942, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1985 batch of the Odisha cadre. He holds a postgraduate degree in English. During his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector and Magistrate, Managing Director, Additional Secretary, and Director. His most recent position was Commissioner & Secretary in the Parliamentary Affairs Department from December 1, 2001, to July 31, 2002.
