Mahesh Kumar Gupta, born on May 3, 1964, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1987 Uttar Pradesh cadre. He holds a B.Tech. and postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Magistrate, Divisional Commissioner, Excise Commissioner, and Principal Secretary to the Government. His most recent position was Additional Chief Secretary in the Energy Department from August 31, 2022, to May 31, 2024. His extensive experience spans roles such as Secretary, Director, Special Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Chief Development Officer, reflecting a diverse administrative tenure.
