M.S. Shanmugam, born on 23 June 1966, is a 2002 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Madras University. Currently, he serves as Secretary - III to the Chief Minister at Chennai since 7 May 2021, working in the CM office. His previous roles include Additional Secretary, Project Director, District Collector, and Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister. He continues to serve in the Indian Administrative Service.
