Over his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Principal Secretary, Special Secretary, Managing Director, District Collector, Deputy Inspector General, Additional Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Additional Director, General Manager, Chief Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and Deputy Collector. His most recent position was Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, Mumbai, from 30 September 2010 to 28 February 2014.
