K Shanmugam, born on July 7, 1960, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1985 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds a graduate degree in Agriculture and a postgraduate degree in Agricultural Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Sub Collector, Deputy Commissioner, District Collector, Director, Joint Secretary, and Secretary. He also held leadership roles such as Chairman and Managing Director. His most recent position was Principal Secretary in the Department of Finance, serving from May 18, 2010, to July 31, 2020.
