During his career, he served in various capacities including Principal Secretary, Commissioner, Chairman and Managing Director, Chief Project Officer, Registrar, Project Administrator, Deputy Commissioner, and Director. His most recent position was Principal Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Bangalore, Karnataka, from 13 May 2011 to 30 June 2012.
