Dr. K Gopal, born on 10 August 1966, is a retired IAS officer from the 1992 Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds an M.B.B.S. degree and has served in various capacities including Additional Chief Secretary at Chennai from 17 August 2023 to 28 February 2026, Vigilance Commissioner, Principal Secretary, Development Commissioner, and District Collector. His departmental experience includes the Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department. Dr. Gopal has been recognized with awards such as the Golden Leaf Award (2014) for a public service initiative and the Green Award (2002). He is proficient in English, Hindi, and Telugu.
