K A Varadan, born on 12 December 1937, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1962 Gujarat cadre. A graduate in Statistics, he served in various capacities including Assistant Collector, District Collector, Municipal Commissioner, Director, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary, Secretary, and Managing Director. He was also Deputy Secretary, Under Secretary, District Development Officer, Controller, and OSD to Minister. Varadan’s most recent position was Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat in the General Administration Department (Personnel) from 1 August 1993 to 31 December 1995. He concluded his distinguished career in the IAS after decades of service.
