Jayant Dasgupta, born on 30 September 1954, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1981 Bihar cadre. He holds an M.Sc. in Physics, an LL.B. in Law, and an M.A. in Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector and Magistrate, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Secretary, Chief Protocol Officer, Excise Commissioner, and Managing Director. He was also Officer on Special Duty to the Minister and Vice Chairperson. His most recent role was Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization from 3 October 2011 to 30 September 2014.
