Jayant Dasgupta, born on 30 September 1954, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1981 Bihar cadre. He holds an M.Sc. in Physics, an LL.B. in Law, and an M.A. in Economics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including District Collector and Magistrate, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Secretary, Excise Commissioner, and Managing Director. He was also Chief Protocol Officer and Officer on Special Duty to the Minister. From 3 October 2011 to 30 September 2014, he served as Ambassador at the Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
