Jawaid Akhtar, born on March 23, 1959, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2000 batch, West Bengal cadre. He served as Labour Commissioner from February 4, 2013, to March 31, 2019. Prior to this, he held the position of Managing Director. Throughout his career, he was associated with the Indian Administrative Service, contributing to various administrative roles until his retirement.
