J Kumaragurubaran, born on 29 May 1979, is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2004 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre. He holds a B.E. degree and is proficient in English, Hindi, and Tamil. Currently, he serves as Secretary in the School Education Department at Chennai since 12 October 2023. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Secretary to Government, Commissioner, Inspector General, Director, Joint Secretary, Managing Director, District Collector, Joint Commissioner, Project Officer, and Assistant Collector. He continues to serve in the Tamil Nadu cadre.
