J Ashok Kumar, born on 25 March 1980, is an Indian Administrative Service officer from the 2008 batch, assigned to the A G M U T cadre. He holds a B.Tech. in Ceramic Technology from Anna University, Chennai. Currently, he serves as Joint Secretary at the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoPPGP) in New Delhi since 6 October 2024. Throughout his career, he has held various positions including Director, Secretary, Secretary to Chief Minister, Commissioner, and Sub Collector. He is proficient in English and Tamil.
