J A Chowdhury, born on 20 April 1942, is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer from the 1965 Gujarat cadre. He holds postgraduate and graduate degrees in Physics. Throughout his career, he served in various capacities including Secretary, Additional Secretary, Director, Resident Commissioner, Managing Director, Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Under Secretary, Assistant Collector, District Collector, and District Development Officer. His most recent position was Secretary at the Health and Family Welfare Department, Gujarat, from 21 July 1999 to 30 April 2002.
