Harshad R Patel, an IAS officer of the 2005 Gujarat cadre, was born on November 13, 1976. He holds an M.A. in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, and a B.A. (Hons) in English. Currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Gujarat since December 22, 2025, Patel has held various positions including Commissioner, Secretary to Government, Managing Director, and District Collector. He has received multiple awards such as the Government of Gujarat Best District Collector and HUDCO Design Award. He is proficient in English, Gujarati, and Hindi.
